NOTE: Please, please, please stop stealing my Remus biography, people. I've been working on it for the past several years, and while I love it when people get excited about my interpretation of the character, it upsets me when they paraphrase my work and call it their own, or when my inventions become part of fanon, making my characterization neither mine nor particularly interesting. If you like my portrayal and you want to incorporate aspects of him into your own interpretation, do what Remus would do: write your own application, and cite your source. Remus would never plagiarize. Be like Remus.

WHY do I keep getting bizarre, unrelated anoncons on my character applications?

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute. Since when were they working there? Since when were they dating him/her? Since when?" And you wonder how you could have missed all of that seemingly standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification, because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

Today, I found an application for a character that I'm pretty sure is based on one that I wrote a while ago. I don't mean to flatter myself - it's possible that some of the things that I thought were my own invention have since become part of collective fanon for this character, but even the family names they chose and details about those family members were remarkably similar. The structure took largely the same form, some paragraphs seemed like reworded summary, and even a few turns of phrase were similar to or the same as ones I used.

Admittedly, I've done similar when I found applications that I liked - taken into consideration details and and aspects of the character that I had not previously considered, appropriated details either intentionally or accidentally due to source misattribution the next time I wrote an application for that character - though I generally ask the application's writer before doing so, especially if I don't know them. And the character is clearly not identical - they took aspects of the character in different directions, elaborated in places I didn't, and they certainly wrote the thing for themselves (GOD I hate the singular "they.")

It's certainly possible that I'm imagining things, and this is just a more common way to write this character than I was aware, but it left an odd taste in my mouth. What do you guys think about this sort of thing? Borrowing heavily from another person's interpretation of a character without asking or citing your source? Clearly, this is the internets, and I'm not exactly F. Scott Fitzgerald - I know most people don't write bibliographies when they're roleplaying - but I guess I just felt sort of odd about it. Flattered, I suppose, but odd.

Funny story: I never realized that my compulsions and constant, crippling anxiety brought on by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder could be interpreted as showing off.

Let's call my little sister and tell her we know that her craniofacial birth defect is just an elaborate plan to get the insurance company to cover her nose job. OH OH OH and when we're done, we can tell my transgender brother that he just wanted to have a cool gender identity that would bother our conservative Christian parents.

Igpy (bilo, aka Sirius (procyon)) and I (texmas, aka Remus (didntfoundrome)) have been talking, and we think that it would be a good idea for us to do some group backstory when everyone has some free time, perhaps using Gdocs. In true Rogers and Hammerstein fashion, it seems like it might be nice to get to know one another and establish the group dynamic now that everyone is played. If we so desire, we could also employ some sort of shame-based system in which Remus uses his special talents to look disappointed whenever someone doesn't reply.

I was going to PM all of you separately, but that seemed weird because then I would become our communication conduit, which would slow our rate of communication considerably, and as such, Bode deemed it illogical. Obviously, if this fails, I will find some more sensible means of contacting you all.

(P.S. I became very sad earlier today about Lily and James, necessitating something that would both make me happier and help Remus know James well enough to be appropriately comforting and supportive when life invariably begins to suck for James. Since he can't really do shots with James and Sirius (not as such, at least) this seemed like the best alternative.)

HIATUS.
I am going to be in Africa until the 25th learning about I don't even know. Something about Phoenician tombs and Star Wars (?). But in any case, I don't think I'll have internet. Because I was told, "you will probably not have internet." I'll look for internet cafes and try to come on sometimes, but I'm not counting on it. I love you all to pieces small and bits that are medium-sized (though probably about the same size as the small pieces, given the nature of bits as inherently lesser in size),

Does anyone have a membership to Wireimage or Getty that they would be willing to use to help me out?

I imagine most if not all of you know that I use Landon Pigg as my PB for Remus Lupin, and have been doing so for several years, as I think he is quite lovely and fabulous. It's a bit difficult to find pictures of him, I suppose, but generally well-worth the effort.

Anyway, while I was looking earlier today, I found a set of really glorious pictures from Sundance on Wireimage here:

Where I think he sort of looks like Jon Pwertee, aka the Third Doctor, with whom Remus is desperately in love, which makes it sort of perfect. Unfortunately, I cannot access them, as they are on wireimage and more than 30 days old. Does anyone have an account with which they'd be willing to save them for me? There are only a handful of them, but I'd really love to have them if there's someone for whom this wouldn't be much trouble.

(Of course, if someone's got a basic, there are really cool ones from the last 30 days because of the Whip It premiers, and I'd certainly be very happy to have those if you can't access the older photos because of weird account restrictions.)

While I hate using my second character as an advocate for my first, I had so much fun writing Bode's journal entry, which is only serving as an advocate for Remus by COMPLETE ACCIDENT on his part, that I am calling it good.

And... I kind of needed to write something that was (though not for Bode) completely facetious to cut all the Causa Mortis angst that's making my chest feel like a lead balloon.

Also, HOLY SHIT.
